Katharina Joy Book (DE/USA, 1995) is a writer and performer based in Berlin, Germany. Her particular interest lies in narratives that expand beyond the time and space of classical theatre. For example, weather changes in an unstable climate (Tornado Watch, 2023); the erotic experience of grief (Yours Now, 2022) or a playing field without an event (hills hills etc etc, 2021). Every project deals in different ways with the subtle intertextual meeting points of body, language and text in live performance.

To this end, she develops various stage and publication formats and works as a dramaturge and translator in Berlin's independent theatre scene; she is a long-standing collaborator of Ariel Efraim Ashbel and friends, most recently on The Omer Count (2024).

Katharina holds a BA from Central Saint Martins College, London and an MA from the Academy of Performing Arts, Prague.
